His Name is Bill
His name is Bill. He has wild hair, wears a T-shirt with holes in it, jeans, and no shoes. This was literally his wardrobe for his entire four years of college. He is brilliant, kind of esoteric and very, very bright. He became a Christian while attending college. Across the street from the campus isContinue reading “His Name is Bill”
A Note on Worship
I read this today from Allen Jackson what a great point. John 4:23-24 (NIV®)“A time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” Our five senses are amazing, aren’t they? They are gifts from God, and without any of them, our world would be diminished. We tend to evaluate our worship based on those things, too—a pretty room for our eyes, a soft chair to sit on, music that pleases our ears, and perhaps a cup of hot coffee to please our taste buds. Some congregations and faith traditions use incense and candles to evoke a spirit of worship. Yet, Jesus said true worship, the kind of worship the Father seeks, is through our spirit—and that is beyond the scope of our senses. I’m not opposed to a comfortable worship environment—I enjoy that, too. But these things are cultural preferences that have little to do with the authenticity of our worship. Let’s ask the Holy Spirit to show us His perspective on true worship—and then, let’s apply that to our own hearts. THINK ABOUT ITHow do you define worship? How does it define you?

Deconstruction of Children’s Faith
What’s Driving Deconstruction? BreakPoint.org In the last few years, more and more younger Christians have been encouraged to deconstruct their faith. Often, it begins with a well-known Christian author, pastor, musician, or public figure announcing that they are no longer a Christian. They make an announcement online to their large following on Twitter/X orContinue reading “Deconstruction of Children’s Faith”
Sunday at Asbury Chapel
Sunday at Asbury Chapel This Sunday we continue our series on “The Uncovered Back” when we look at additional weapons we have to fight Satan. God has equipped us but we must put on the battle armor. It will not automatically jump onto our bodies. J.C. Ryle said “The devil must be daily resisted. TheContinue reading “Sunday at Asbury Chapel”
