“This Man”

Acts  2:22 – 25 (NKJV)

22 “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know— 23 Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; 24 whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it. 25 For David says concerning Him:‘I foresaw the Lord always before my face, For He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken.”

Jesus the Nazarene a humble name whom He was often referred to in His earthly ministry. “Man attested to” men saw what He did, and God validated Jesus as Messiah.

“By the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God.” God, the Father predetermined Jesus would die for the sins of man. His death was the atonement for sin that we are born with and that we commit. Luke calls them “godless men” because the Jews were the ones that instigated Jesus’ death and Luke was correct in calling them out for the atrocity they committed. Luke was calling them “lawless’ he might as well as said “godless men.”

Because of God and the divine power death could not keep Jesus in the grave. It was the power of God to raise Him and it is the power of God through the death of Jesus that we can live in eternity with our Saviour.

The Lord was speaking of His resurrection prophetically through David.

God Bless.
