Jude 12 – 14
“These are hidden reefs at your love feasts, as they feast with you without fear, shepherds feeding themselves; waterless clouds, swept along by winds; fruitless trees in late autumn, twice dead, uprooted; 13 wild waves of the sea, casting up the foam of their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved forever. 14 It was also about these that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones.”
“These hidden reefs” referred to here speak of apostates who joined in the love feasts. The love feasts of the day was a time when they would partake of the cup and the bread along with sharing a common meal. The apostates would come into these meeting as a total shipwreck. They would preach a false doctrine that lead to hell. 2 Peter 2:13 also refers to this also. John MacArthur says it this way “The false teachers were sitting with Christians were behaving arrogantly and immorally even on occasions intended for Christian fellowship. Though attempting to cover their corruption with religious talk, they were filthy defects on the church gatherings.”
They (apostates) promised ministry but would be quickly seen for who they were. They were workers of worthless shame. These apostates promised spiritual direction but as you can for who they were they only delivered a worthless flash in the pan.
Enoch, even before the flood prophesied about the second coming of judgment. Wat Enoch was referring is the second coming of Jesus and when he refers to “his holy ones” the reference may refer to both the angels and the saints. We do know that we will have a role during the judgement of the Lord’s earthly kingdom.
God Bless.
