Psalm 63:1 – 5

“O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. 2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. 3 Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. 4 So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands. 5 My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips.”

Have you ever desired something that you thought you could not live without it? Ever had the desire for a new car, a different house and find out once you had it in your possession that it was really no big deal. Mayber it may have even garnered the desire for something else.

Many humans try to find satisfaction is stuff by acquiring more stuff. Here is George Carlin on “stuff”? “Actually, this is just a place for my stuff, ya know? That’s all; a little place for my stuff. That’s all I want, that’s all you need in life, is a little place for your stuff, ya know? I can see it on your table, everybody’s got a little place for their stuff. This is my stuff, that’s your stuff, that’ll be his stuff over there

That’s all you need in life, a little place for your stuff. That’s all your house is- a place to keep your stuff. If you didn’t have so much stuff, you wouldn’t need a house. You could just walk around all the time. A house is just a pile of stuff with a cover on it.”

He makes a valid point. Now what would the world be like if (I go back to many) people sought a relationship, study, prayer by seeking God rather than seeking stuff? It’s okay to have stuff but it should be in perspective to all else in our lives not the focal point.

“Where your pleasure is, there is your treasure; where your treasure is, there is your heart; where your heart is, there is your happiness.” Augustine.

God Bless.
