Hosea 2:23 (NKJV)
“Then I will sow her for Myself in the earth, And I will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy; Then I will say to those who were not My people, ‘You are My people!’ And they shall say, ‘You are my God!”
I do not know about you but sometimes I read the Bible and wonder the deeper meaning of what I just read. Here we have a prophet, a man of God who God tells him to marry a prostitute. I see the idea of mercy that is evident in the scripture. God is a God of mercy. But is there more to this story than meets the eye?
So what else is there here? I think it is the joy that God sees when a person has come back to faith and belief in Him. There is a song by Phillips, Graig, and Dean titled “When God Ran.” Here is a portion of the lyrics:
He ran to me
He took me in his arms
Held my head to his chest
Said my son’s come home again
Lifted my face
Wiped the tears from my eyes
With forgiveness in his voice God said
Son do you know I still love you.
He loves us to come back when we have strayed, where are you today? Is there some separation that He is calling us to come back?
“Morning by morning new mercies I see.” Thomas O. Chisholm.
God Bless.
