Bible Study July 5, 2024Job 1:1 (LSB)“There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job; and
that man was blameless, upright, fearing God, and turning away from evil.” What a testimony to anyone. Who are our true heroes? We may
look to a sports star, to a business professional, to someone in government.
Who emulates success while staying humble? There is a word we find in the above verse that is seldom seen
in anyone, hardly ever used to describe someone. That word is blameless. What does blameless mean? One thing for certain it does not
mean “sinless” as we all have sinned according to Romans 3:23. Yet Job is
described as “blameless, upright, fearing God, and turning away from evil.” He
turned from sin and in doing so he turned to God.It sounds very much like Job lived a life in repentance. He
not only cared about how he lived but he cared about how his family lived, even
offering sacrifices for his children. Jesus said to “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father
is perfect.” (Matt. 5:48). If perfection is unreachable, then blameless is the
goal. Ask God for grace to turn from sin and be considered blameless.God Bless.
