Luke 19:11 – 13 (ESV)
11 As they heard these things, he proceeded to tell a parable, because he was near to Jerusalem, and because they supposed that the kingdom of God was to appear immediately. 12 He said therefore, “A nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and then return. 13 Calling ten of his servants, he gave them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Engage in business until I come.’
What happens if you don’t sleep for 3 days? What happens if I miss any sleep?
Many are unable to stay awake on their own. Going three days without sleep profoundly limits the ability to think, especially executive functions such as multitasking, remembering details, and paying attention. This level of sleep deprivation can make it difficult to see even simple tasks through to completion.
We all need rest time to sit down, relax, and just rest. But in our busy (way to busy) world we keep going and going. Satan will deceive into thinking everything is all right we can continue to go on and on. We should make the best use of our time.
But how do we spend our time awake. Luke wrote we should “engage in business until I come.” Meaning Jesus said to use your time wisely in the Lord’s work after all that is the most important thing we have to do. Do you believe there are times in everyone’s day that we can share a good word, encouragement, hope to one another?
I think that is what in these verses. Make our alert time as valuable as we can.
