2 Corinthians 5:1 – 7 (LSB)

“5 For we know that if the earthly tent which is our house is torn down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For indeed in this we groan, longing to be clothed with our dwelling from heaven, 3 inasmuch as we, having put it on, will not be found naked. 4 For indeed while we are in this tent, we groan, being burdened, because we do not want to be unclothed but to be clothed, so that what is mortal will be swallowed up by life. 5 Now He who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave to us the Spirit as a pledge. 6 Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord— 7 for we walk by faith, not by sight.”

How should a Christ Follower walk? Do we walk by religion? Do we walk by past experience? Do we walk by how we feel? Paul tells the Corinthian Church we should all walk by faith. Verse seven answers the question “for we walk by faith, not by sight.” That sounds easy to some more difficult to others who are used to following their emotions.

Walking by faith seems contrary to common sense to say the least. If we walked by religion we could easily pin our hopes on what we could see. We see certain things and give us a perspective of where we are, where we are going.

But when we walk by faith we walk in the promises of God who has given us His promise book to follow never leaving us alone to fend for ourselves. We have the “evidence of things not seen.” (Heb. 11:1). We have His promises for the future and the past history we see in the scriptures to guide us.

We all face an uncertain future but if we walk by faith we can rest assured that He will always be with us.

God Bless.
