Romans 2:1
“Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things.” (ESV)
People tend to judge others although we are taught not to do so from an early age but our human nature too often controls our common sense. We have been taught since we were young not to judge others but it still happens.
Paul in Romans 2:1 looks into the gospel and we realize through Jesus that we have fallen short of His expectations for our lives. No one is perfect no matter how hard we try. Trying will not get us there it takes Jesus to get us there.
People who have dark hearts and do not glorify God in the natural we are prone to doing wrong, that is where the need for forgiveness comes in to play for all mankind. What Paul is saying in this verse is simple. “Do not point your finger at others since you are guilty of what you are condemning in another. You are as bad as they are. No one is capable of keeping the law no one is better than the next.”
How about considering this when we are tempted to judge – discern first, redirect our thoughts, and offer encouragement. It will make us a better person.
I read this today – “Don’t judge me by my past I don’t live there anymore.” Thankfully we have moved from our past. God Bless
